![]() From that perspective the modding tool is amazing but even still limited, try previewing a generated map script. I'm hesitant to even use modding to explain generated map makers as I feel it's more a unique product then what a general assumption of modding is. The editor and Relic's push, which makes sense financially, is for generated maps and their modding. I have multiple instances that seem to make crafted maps more tedious, forest painting anyone?, that are designed certain ways that allow generated maps to flourish and be built with a sense of balance and production quality. ![]() ![]() It makes the whole experience even more frustratingĪs a crafted map modder I agree with a lot of points. It also runs incredibly slowly, even with a 3080. ![]() It is incredibly tedious and complicated in comparison. I made a screenshot with a collection of editors that I've used in the past and AOE4s editor is nothing like anything else I've used. The map editor we got is more of a dev tool extension than a user editor. I can imagine others feel the same way and an easier to use editor would really open up the amount of custom maps and scenarios we would see. Its turned me off map making completely and I would rather just not make anything than have to spend hundreds of hours just trying to learn how to make a map. I tried using the editor and even after reading pages of guides and watching tutorials videos, its still overly complicated and doing simple things takes forever. Where you can just open it, play around and figure it out easily. Edit basic attributes like how much gold a patch has or easily place units down from a selection.Įssentially like the map editor in all the other AOE games, and games like Warcraft, Starcraft, etc. Also with easy brushes you select to paint tiles, mountains, trees, water, etc. I know the Content editor is very powerful and you can change a lot, but does anybody know if there's a plan to make a simpler, more user friendly editor for the game? Something that you can just edit easily and jump right into, preferably from within the game. ![]()
